PhD positions (Spring/Fall 2025) - ECE Department
Our group is looking for prospective PhD applicants who are interested in the flourishing and dynamic fields of next generation quantum technologies and artificial intelligence. The PhD positions will be fully funded (a generous stipend/salary, tuition coverage, and health insurance). The candidate will also suppose to engage with the O'Donnell Data Science and Research Institute at SMU and the Darwin Deason Institute for Cyber Security at SMU. Additionally, there are many exciting opportunities for collaboration with scientists from national laboratories, prominent industries, and universities.

Requirements
Masters’ degree (Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics).
Meet graduate/PhD admission requirements in the Lyle School of Engineering at SMU.
Skills that would be appreciated
Hands-on experiences in AI/ML.
Programming: Python (Julia, C++ would be great).
Good knowledge of Linear Algebra, Quantum Physics and Optics (Plus), GPUs, HPC (Plus), QPU (Plus).
